Story
Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, attempts to take the reins of Gotham’s underworld.. Aside from the Bat-signal in the closing shot of the season finale, we didn’t get a cameo from Robert Pattinson in The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to have his version of the Penguin smoke tobacco in The Batman (2022), but he failed. In his own series, however, the character is portrayed as a casual tobacco user with a penchant for cigars..
Farrell STEALS this show
The DC Studios logo is seen in a rainy Gotham alley. An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. Appearing on The Graham Norton Show: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024).
The show is gritty and descriptive
He’s impressive. There’s nothing about the character that even remotely resembles Farrell. The New York accent, the sway and limp, the posture: you’d swear it’s someone else. The amazing prosthetics are very realistic and enhance the character.
Well written and tight
There’s nothing cartoonish about it. This is a great counterpart to Christopher Nolan’s Batman. I’d go as far as to say this beats Marvel’s line hands down. I hope there might be a second season, but I know it’s limited.
It’s a shame
HBO has a real hit on their hands.
