LaShane’s performance is unfortunately the obvious weak spot in this otherwise excellent adaptation of The Day of the Jackal
I came to check the reviews to see if anyone else had noticed how underwhelming the female lead’s performance was, and I was surprised to find that many others felt the same way. Her facial expressions are stiff, her performance lacks authenticity, and her performance breaks the tension that surrounds an otherwise excellent crime thriller. While I haven’t seen her other work and she can shine in a variety of roles, her acting here feels amateurish and out of place.
However, the series itself is a masterpiece of suspense
The narrative is gripping, the pacing keeps you hooked, and the rest of the cast gives excellent performances. If you’re a fan of crime thrillers, it’s still worth your time. Lashana’s shortcomings aside, the overall production and gripping storyline make it a memorable experience.
