Story
Men and women live in a vast silo underground with a few rules they believe protect them from the toxic and ruined world above. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. Season 1 contains the first 30 chapters of “The Wave”; the book has 82 chapters. The fans on the floor spin the wrong way in various episodes, in terms of blade orientation. Spinning this way doesn’t push or pull any air.
My first ever review!
I read the Hughes trilogy years ago and loved the books immensely. When I randomly browsed IMDB and found SILO, I was immediately intrigued. I see a bit of mixed opinions and some I can relate to, here is my take on the first season. First of all, I love dystopian literature! The dystopian genre offers a unique psychological perspective on human nature in hypothetical scenarios.
It is not an adaptation in the sense that it follows the plot
My fondness for the trilogy was solidified because Hughes managed to develop Orwellian ideas within a hypothetical relationship to the modern world. Depicting the development of the human psyche in dystopian scenarios is a difficult task. I think Hughes did a great job, SILO captures most of these aspects in a refreshing way. It is based on the books, but naturally it has to adapt to viewers in a fast-paced world. Despite this, the series manages to capture the atmosphere of a society living in silos.
The acting is phenomenal for the central characters
Unlike the shallow storytelling of other shows, «SILO» has a wonderful mix of character development and atmospheric focus. The only problem I have with the show is the lack of atmospheric development. They spend a lot of screen time chasing and capturing Juliette. They lack atmospheric development of the silo as a society. Naturally, it has to appeal to a receptive audience.
